Hennessy's Five Kills Lift Salem State To MASCAC Sweep Of Massachusetts Maritime

SALEM, Mass. --  Sophomore Emily Hennessy (Hanover, Mass.) registered five kills and a pair of digs to lead Salem State to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-18 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball opener for both teams Tuesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium.


Junior Samantha Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass.) added four kills and a pair of service aces in the triumph for the host Vikings (3-4, 1-0 MASCAC), who also received three kills from junior Maddi O'Connor (Hamilton, Mass.).  Junior Mackenzie Salls (Turners Falls, Mass.) collected 14 set assists in the win for Salem State, which received 14 digs from senior Hannah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.).


Sophomore Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.) notched three kills and eight digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-5, 0-1 MASCAC), who received three kills and three digs from junior Jennifer Roy (Attleboro, Mass.).  Sophomore Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) added seven digs and five set assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received three set assists and four digs from freshman Maddie Coughlin (Monroe, Conn.) as well as five digs each from sophomore Tina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.) and freshman Kaylee Tolman (East Sandwich, Mass.).


Massachusetts Maritime heads to Quincy, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Eastern Nazarene in a non-league outing beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Salem State hosts Pine Manor in a non-league match on Thursday evening at Twohig Gymnasium that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
