Bullets Continue Climb in D3 Poll

PERRY, N.Y. – The rise continued for the Gettysburg College men's lacrosse team in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Poll as the Bullets earned a first-place vote and the third position in the most recent edition.

Gettysburg (6-0) climbed the national rankings for the fourth time in as many weeks, rising from No. 13 in the first release to sixth and fifth in the last two polls. This week saw the Bullets tally 379 points and seize the only first-place vote not attributed to top-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology (4-0), which grabbed 21 first-place nods and 418 points. Denison University (5-0) finished runner-up position with 390 points.

York (Pa.) College (5-1) and Cabrini College (4-0) filled out the top five. SUNY Cortland (3-0) and Tufts University (3-0) climbed into sixth and seventh, respectively, while Salisbury University (5-2) remained eighth. Wesleyan University (2-1) slipped from second to ninth and Amherst College (3-0) completed the top 10.

Gettysburg's rise through the ranks has been well-earned with half of the team's wins coming against top-15 foes. The Bullets followed back-to-back overtime wins over then No. 1 Salisbury and then No. 15 Stevenson University with an 8-6 win over No. 4 York last week, marking the first time in nine seasons the program had played and defeated three straight nationally-ranked foes.

The Orange and Blue meets Washington and Lee University, which received national votes this week, on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
