ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Tournament Team for the 2013 MIAC Softball Playoffs was announced Monday, May 6, following the weekend's competition. With the tournament format amended to include all 12 teams, the All-Tournament Team was also expanded to include the usual 12-player First Team (including ties), and an eight-player Second Team. Headlining the squad was MIAC Playoffs MVP Jenna Hoffman from St. Thomas.

Hoffman (Jr., Eagan, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) was tremendous, playing shortstop and batting leadoff during the Tommies march to the title. For the tournament, she batted .667 (12-for-18) in five games, with eight runs, seven RBI, four home runs, three doubles, a walk and a stolen base. Twice she led off the bottom of the first with a home run, and she drove in the go-ahead run late in a win over St. Catherine. Hoffman saved her best performance of the weekend for last, as she went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, two runs and four RBI in Sunday's 8-1 title-game win over Bethel.

Hoffman was one of five St. Thomas players voted to the All-Tournament First Team, after the Tommies went 5-0 to capture the championship. Runner-up Bethel actually had one more selection - six - to lead the four teams who advanced to the double-elimination portion of the tournament. Third-place Gustavus and fourth-place St. Olaf had one All-Tournament First Team selection each.

Because the 2013 MIAC Softball Playoffs were expanded to include all 12 teams due to the incomplete and challenging regular season, the All-Tournament Team was also expanded to include an eight-player Second Team as well, with one selection from each team that did not advance beyond Friday's round-robin pool play.

St. Thomas has now won the tournament in each of the event's 10 seasons with a 32-1 all-time MIAC Playoffs record. The Tommies advanced through Friday's round-robin Pool play unscathed, then won all three games in the four-team, double-elimination bracket to make it a full decade of postseason titles for Head Coach John Tschida's club. As a result of the title, St. Thomas received the MIAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament.

The All-Tournament First Team was voted on by the four coaches whose teams advanced to Saturday's double-elimination bracket. The All-Tournament Second Team consisted of one selection from each team that participated in Friday's pool play, but did not advance.
